Calavion is designed for any role that includes a bounded piece of work: records to read, a rule that limits what a person may do, someone affected, and a consequence that follows. If your team handles it, we can work with you to build an exercise from it.
How a role becomes an exercise
- You bring a piece of work your team has handled.
- Calavion prepares an exercise from it with you, by hand, and replaces the identifying details.
- You approve the exact version, invite applicants, and read a Replay of what each one did. People at your company decide.
Work that fits
These are fictional illustrations of the kind of work an exercise can be built from. They are not a catalogue.
Customer support. A customer asks to cancel an order the warehouse has already packed. Records to read, a policy to follow, a promise not to make too early. See the customer support role and the sample cancellation environment.
Hotel reservations. A room double-booked on the night of arrival: the reservation record, the rate rules, a guest at the desk, a manager to call. See the hotel reservations role.
Sales operations. A discount request outside policy while a deal is still open: what to check, what to promise, what to hand over.
Finance operations. A payment that does not match its invoice with the close two days away: which records to reconcile, what to escalate.
Recruitment coordination. Two interview slots clash for a senior applicant: the calendar, the hiring manager’s constraints, a message that must be right. See the recruitment consultant role.
What stays the same in every role
- Applicants work in a controlled exercise connected to no real customer or system.
- The employer reads a Replay: a record of what was available, what the applicant did and wrote, what changed and what stayed open.
- Calavion does not give applicants an overall score, generate an ordered shortlist, or recommend whom to hire. The employer orders its shortlist; the software checks that order against approved criteria and asks for a reason where it conflicts.
Is your role a fit?
If the work has records to read, a rule that limits what a person may do, someone affected and a consequence that follows, it is a candidate for an exercise. The four-part test shows how to check.
