Sales and marketing roles

Sales and marketing work leaves a trail: replies, approvals, pricing rules and follow-ups. These guides cover three roles where that trail is the evidence.

What does real-work assessment look like for sales and marketing roles?

Commercial work is often judged by outcomes that arrive months later. A real-work exercise looks at the earlier evidence: how an applicant reads a prospect, handles an objection inside a pricing rule, or chases an approval before a launch.

The three roles differ in what the case turns on. A sales representative case turns on an objection and a rule about discounts. An SDR case turns on qualifying a vague reply. A marketing coordinator case turns on a change, an approval and a deadline.

Status in one line

Calavion has run one exercise end to end, a customer service cancellation case. For every other role on this page, Calavion would build the exercise with your company from a case your team has handled.

What you review

A Replay: what was available, what the applicant did and wrote, what changed and what stayed open. Calavion does not score or rank applicants. You decide.

Selling roles

Sales representative and SDR cases turn on a prospect’s reply, a qualification or pricing rule and a defensible next step.

Marketing coordination

A marketing coordinator case turns on a plan, an approvals trail and a partner waiting for copy. It does not judge creative quality.

What does Calavion not cover in these roles?

Cold calling and live pitches; live negotiation; creative and design quality; analytics and platform skills. Calavion does not record voice or video or run live tools.

Use another method for those, alongside a written exercise. Each guide lists the common alternatives. See also where Calavion applies and what makes work suitable.

Sales and marketing roles: common questions

Short answers about assessing sales and marketing roles.

Which sales and marketing roles can Calavion assess?

The guides cover sales representative, sales development representative and marketing coordinator. Only the customer service cancellation case has been built and run so far. For these roles, Calavion would build the exercise with your company.

Is an SDR the same as a sales representative?

The titles are used loosely. An SDR usually finds and qualifies leads and books meetings, while a sales representative usually runs the sale and closes it. The guides treat them as separate cases.

Can Calavion assess creative or design work?

No. The exercise is built around written cases with records and message threads. Creative quality needs a portfolio review or a separate task.
